A Little Princess (1995)

This is one my favorite childhood movies, one of those that still on my brain until now. I remember perfectly how I stunned over the cinematography of this movie, each frame is like a work of art. It's Alfonso Cuaron's masterpiece starred by the beautiful Liesel Matthews (who happened to be a 'princess' in the real life).

The story itself is actually a typical Cinderella story but with a different twist. It's not dull though you can predict what's going to happen next and literally guess the ending from the start. Another twist that makes this movie so different is that this movie expose the beauty of India, a lot. Which I'm dying in love with. One scene at the beginning shown the room with a king-sized bed of Sara (the princess) in her house in India, and the decoration was just breath taking, very warm, very eclectic, very 'India'. I fell for that room and until now it's still haunting my dreams. I would want a room like that one day.

I just watched it again today, on my lazy Saturday. Seriously on the acute level of boredom. A disease that only attacks me in time like this, when my boyfriend left me yesterday for a 2 weeks vacation in Barcelona. So stupid I once thought that he would prefer to spend his holiday with me than going there. HA HA. Yea, right. Well at least it's not India.

The bedroom I've been bragging about. My future room, for sure.
How does it feel to have this heavenly river near your house. Good Lord.
Sadly she has to move to New York and live in a some kind of girl school/dorm. But then you see the room she get in the dorm on the third pic. How could anyone resist that??! Dammit.
My favorite part. When Sara recalls the Ramayana story.
The school girls. If you notice there is an appearance from little Camilla Belle in this movie (last picture). Still young and innocent. Remembering those Jurassic Park days when she appeared only to be killed..Oh and actually the black girl on the first pic also starred in one of Jurassic series, but she remained alive till the end of the movie.
Again, one of my favorite scenes! What is a children movie without a little touch of magic?
 Tons of heart breaking scenes.

So if you happen to share the same boring weekend with me, go watch this movie, it's really refreshing to indulge your imagination for a while.
